Our Fees
Our clients are charged in one of three ways: contingent fees,
hourly fees or standard fee cases.
Contingent fees are usually charged in personal injury or
collection cases. These
fees amount to a percentage of the money recovered by us for our
clients. In contingent fee
cases there is no fee if the client does not recover; however, the
client is always responsible for payment of costs associated with the
contingent fee case.
Hourly fees are fees charged in a case where an undetermined
amount of time will be spent by our office.
In these cases the client will be charged an hourly fee for any
time spent on a case. In
hourly fee cases we will ask for a retainer, which is an amount of money
to be applied toward fees as they are earned.
Standard fee cases are cases where the fee is calculated in
accordance with the attorney’s canon of ethics and includes
consideration of the following factors:
·
The time, difficulty and skill needed to perform the legal service
properly.
·
The likelihood, if apparent to the
client, that the acceptance of the particular employment will preclude
other employment by the lawyer.
·
The fee customarily charged in the
locality for similar legal services.
·
The amount involved and the results
obtained.
·
The time limitations imposed by the
client or by the circumstances.
·
The nature and length of the professional
relationship with the client.
·
The experience, reputation, and ability
of the lawyer performing the services.
·
Whether the fee is fixed or contingent.
A retainer will also be charged in standard fee cases.
In many instances this retainer will cover the fee for the case.
When the factors above dictate otherwise the client will be
billed accordingly.
Jane Timonere is the only one of our staff who can set fees;
however, Timonere Law Offices has standard fee rates for various cases
that we handle. The staff
is permitted to share those rates with our clients.
Jane is also the only one who can authorize installment payments
of fees charged by the firm.
